Cleansing Cream - AyurvedaTreatment with Ayurveda medicines

Cleansing Cream: This is a classical preparation where only natural nutritive ingredients are used. It has shelf life of short duration, so large scale manufactures do not use this formulation. In most of the crème sold now petroleum derived wax and solvents are used, which are not absorbed by the body, and form superficial layer only. For increasing the penetration of these crème into the skin, more synthetic chemicals are added, along with synthetic preservatives and fragrances. Even most of the so-called herbal cemes do not contain natural cream base. On small scale fresh natural crèmes can be prepared as follows:

Take Bee’s wax 18 gm, almond oil 21 ml, rose water 20 ml, Tankan Bhasam 1 gm, Sandal oil 4 drops, benzoin-alcohol extract or vitamin E, 2 drops. Mix wax and oil at one place and heat slightly till the whole wax gets melted. In a separate container, mix Tankan Bhasam in water and heat slightly, till it is at the temperature of wax oil mixture. Shake bot water and oil phase slowly and constantly, with kitchen appliances. When both are homogenous add benzoin, vitamin E and Sandal oil and mix again. When cold, pack in the container. In this crème, as per the choice of user, in the oil phase instead of almond oil, some percentage of other oils like that of Neem can be used. Similarly in place of rose water, juices of cabbage, cucumber, carrot, pineapple etc. can jbe incorporated, and in place of sandal oil fragrance, any pleasing essential oil, given in the chapter on Aromatherapy, can be used.
