It is an enema treatment, mainly for the persons suffering from Vata diseases (nervous diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, facial paralysis, hemiplegia, neuralgia etc). Two types of fluids, decoctions of the herbs and medicated oils (mainly sesame oil) are used for this purpose. Usually both types of enema are given alternatively.
Before the treatments, oil is massaged on the head and body and abdomen is fomented with a hot water bag. After inserting the fluids in the body, steps are taken to see that it remains in it for about three hours.
