VEGETABLE GLYCERINE

It is a product of edible oils, sweet in taste, and soluble in water. Glycerine is a good solvent for herbal extractives, called glycerites. These are prepared by macerating herbs in 25-50 per cent glylcerin, with or without alcohol. It can be used for preparations for sensitive skin, like that of throat by mixing in it Khairsar (15 gm in 85 gm glycerine) or Tankan Bhasam (31 gm in 69 gm glycerin). It can be used for application on skin by diluting it in 50 per cent water and adding a drop of sandal oil to it.
