Excess hunger
Take one teaspoon of each of Vidarikand powder or Gond
Katira or Isphagul or a mixture of these with water, thrice a day.
Indigestion :
It may be due to lack of gastric juices in the body; so the herbs, which
stimulated the secretion of these juices, are used. Indigestion may also
be caused by excess or less quantity of the acid in the stomach. The following
preparations may help in this case.
(a) Lavanbhaskar Churn or Hingvastika Churn or Lahsunadi vati.
(b) A mixture of half teaspoon made from equal quantities of Black salt,
Meetha soda, Cumin, Dry Ginger and Sat Papita (papain) and lime juice.
(c) Pulverize equal quantities of Chitrak, common salt, Pippali and Bibhitaki.
Take 1 gm of this mixture with water.
(d) For stimulating appetite in cases of malnutrition: Take one gram of
the mixture prepared from equal quantities of fine powders of Anantmul,
Babaring, Makho dana, Punernava, Kalmegh, and Bhringraja, with water three
times a day.
Note :
(i) Do not take Lavanbhasaker or other churns having strong concentration
of salts in cases of hyperacidity, ulcer, heartburn, swollen tongue or
mouth ulcer.
(ii) Hing is also used for bronchitis, cough, gas, hysteria and neurasthenia.
It is reported to be a hypotensive agent and increase the coagulation
time of blood.
(iii) Chitarak increase digestive power but has a very strong action on
the body. Use Chitrak under medical supervision only.
