Common Cold and Cough

(a) Drink a decoction of the following herbs (10 gm) by taking coarse powders of equal quantities of Vasaka, Mulathi, somavalli, Kantkari, Pippali (long pepper), Amla, and Bibhitkai, in ten times water, boil till reduced to half, add a pinch of Naushadar. Inhale the vapour while making decoction.
(b) Drink a decoction prepared as above by taking 10 gm coarse powder of Vasaka, Somavalli, Kantakri, Mulathi, Banfasha, Tulsi, Naushadar (a pinch) and honey.
(c) Boil Jushanda made from equal quantities of coarse powder of Banafsha, Mulathi, Munaka and Kulanjan in water, add sugar or honey.
(d) Take fine powders of Banslochan (50 gm), Ilaichi dana (10 gm), Dalchini (10 gm), Pippali 910 gm), Kulanja (10 gm), Kabab Chini (10 gm), and Eucalyptus oil (5 drops), Peppermint oil (5 drops), and Clove oil (5 drops). If required mix sugar as per taste. Use this as throat lozenge. A pinch of it can be given to infants and young children.
(e) Iladivati: Pulverize 5 gm each of Ilaichi, Tejpat, Dalchini, 20 gm Pippali and 40 gm each of Mishri, Mulathi, Chuara and Munaka. First soak Chuara and Munaka in warm water to remove seed. Make a paste of these in a blender, and add to it fine powders of rest of items. Mix thoroughly and make candy balls of 10 gm each. Use with or without honey as a lozenge. It may be administered to infants by dissolving a quarter of ball in milk.
(f) Khadiradivati I: Pulverize Khairsar 100 gm and 20 gm each of Mushkafoor (camphor), Jaiphal, Sheetal chini and Ilaichi. Moisten the fine powders with water and make lozenge of 1 gm each.
